ONEATA ELAINE STEWART JONES

Oneata Elaine Stewart Jones entered eternal rest at Slidell Memorial Hospital on Friday October 24, 2025, at the age of 73. She was a native of Vacherie, LA and resident of Westwego, LA. Oneata was a graduate of L. W. Higgins High School Class of 1970. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing from Dillard University and a Master of Science degree in nursing from LSU Medical School. Later she served her country in the United States Navy for 3 years receiving the National Defense Service Medal. Oneata was a retired registered nurse with West Jefferson Medical Center. Beloved wife of the late Larry Jones. Loving daughter of the late Cleveland and Fannie Stewart. Sister of the late Anna Mae Williams, Marion S. Francis, Robert, Isaac, Martin, and Mable Washington, and Brenda Stewart, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Dominion and Power Ministries, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, and all neighboring are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Shiloh Missioanry Baptist Church 1419 4th St. Westwego, LA on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 9:300am. Pastor Woodrow Hayden, Host Pastor - Bishop Tyrone Washington, Sr., officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30am until service time at the above named church.
