Rosemary Sawyer

Rosemary Sawyer, a lifelong educator and devoted servant of God, entered eternal rest on October 18, 2025. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Freddie Sr. and Rosalie Sawyer, Rosemary's life was a beautiful lesson in love, faith, and service. A proud graduate of Walter L. Cohen High School, she continued her studies at Dillard University and Dominican College, in Education and Early Childhood Development. For over 40 years, "Ms. Sawyer" dedicated her life to nurturing young minds at People's Methodist School and through Total Community Action, Inc. Head Start where she served as both teacher and center supervisor at Magnolia and Berean Head Start Centers. Baptized at Historic Second Baptist Church serving as a member of the Benevolent Society. Rosemary lived her faith daily, extending compassion to everyone she met. She was a loving mother to Monica Sawyer, cherished grandmother to Brindisha Bowman and God Mother of Delando Parker. Rosemary's legacy of kindness and devotion will live on through her brother Freddie Jr., Nieces and nephews Terry, Sean, Shelly, Corey, Troy. She is preceded in death by siblings Cyril and Glenda. Nephews, Sydney, Bruce and Patrick. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, November 8, 2025, for 10:00 a.m. at The Boyd Family Funeral Home, 5001 Chef Menteur Hwy, New Orleans, LA, 70126.
