Mr. Anthony Jerome "Jay" Joyner, age 58 of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away unexpectedly from health complications on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 31, 1964, the son of Lawrence and Emma (Jones) Joyner, in Bridgeport, Alabama.
Jay graduated from Marion County High School in Jasper, Tennessee, and continued his education at the University of Tennessee, graduating with a degree in accounting. A jack of all trades, Jay had various jobs, but his favorite was being an over-the-road truck driver.
Jay was a sports enthusiast through and through, participating in football, track, and basketball. Not only did he excel in physical activities, but he also enjoyed relaxing with video games, with a particular fondness for the intense battles of Call of Duty. Yet, amidst the fast-paced virtual worlds, Jay valued the simplicity of old-school games like Donkey Kong and Pac-Man. Jay took great pride in his fashion sense, collecting popular tennis shoes like Jordans and adorning himself with perfectly coordinated hats and hoodies. His impeccable style always caught the eye, and although he wasn't known for his words, his charisma spoke volumes. Once you witnessed his unmistakable look, you instantly understood his distinct presence.
He was a dependable man; someone you could always count on. Though he might grumble occasionally, he consistently showed up when he was needed. His loyalty and genuine care for others were unmistakable. When it came to his grandkids, there was nothing he wouldn't do for them. He showered them with affection and spoiled them rotten. Moreover, he instilled in his family the importance of closeness and unwavering support, teaching them to always be there for each other, no matter the circumstances.
Survivors include his loving partner of over 25 years, Angela Lowe of the home; four children, Chasity Lowe (Brandon Adams), Brandon Lowe, and Ayden Joyner all of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Shay Price of Chattanooga, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Kaleb Miller, Kingsley Lowe, Kendrick Lowe and Kylan Adams; three siblings, Carolyn Joyner, Ronnie Joyner and Lawrence Joyner (Susan) all of Tennessee; one brother-in-law, Lewis Williams of Tennessee; his special aunt, Judeen Acosta of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews and a host friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Cynthia Williams.
The family will hold private services at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary, 915 Madison St, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
