Bryan Kachur Obituary
On June 2, 2024 Bryan Kachur, long time Newtown resident, succumbed to a lengthy illness. The family grew up on Taunton Hill Rd. It was a neighborhood full of boys who have all stayed in touch so shout out to the Taunton Hill gang. Bryan was a graduate of the 1981 class of Newtown High School. Bryan earned a bachelor's degree from Western Connecticut State University and a MBA from Sacred Heart University. Bryan's successful career took many turns. From 2020-present Bryan was employed as a Procurement Manager for Mirion Technologies in Meriden, CT. He previously worked for Legrand U.S. (2005-2020) in West Hartford, CT. as a Purchasing Manager.
First and foremost, Bryan was a loving father with an adventurous spirit. He wanted his sons to have experiences they would always remember. His life with his 4 boys took them on trips to National Parks, camping in the Caribbean, exciting expeditions, and memorable musical experiences.
Always an athlete, Bryan was a standout player and a mainstay of the Newtown Men's Softball scene for many years, as well as leagues in Woodbury, Norwalk, Danbury, and Bethel. Bryan played the mandolin and loved bluegrass music. He was also an avid fly fisherman. Bryan loved to travel to rivers in Canada, Montana, and upstate New York, but he spent his most peaceful hours on the Farmington River here in Connecticut in all 4 seasons of the year.
Bryan had a gregarious personality with an infectious and unmistakable laugh. Those who knew Bryan often witnessed his ability to make new friends easily by starting conversations with complete strangers and finding something in common with them. Then, like Jimmy Stewart in the movie Harvey, inviting them out for drinks or over for dinner. He had an innate capacity to remember all the details of his acquaintances for their next meeting. But most of all Bryan cared about the people around him having just the BEST time and, if he could facilitate that in any way, he would.
Bryan is survived by his 4 sons Maxwell (and Joslyn), Jackson (and Olivia Ballou), Dylan (and Margot Prow), and Evan (aka Snapper doodle), all reside in Bethlehem CT. Bryan is also survived by his extended family Stephanie Grise of New Canaan, CT and her 3 children Michael, Griffin, and Riley (the apple of his eye). Bryan is also survived by his mother Taffy, father Donald (and Martha), brother Christopher (and Carol) and sisters Kelly and Michelle all of Southbury, CT and sister Carrie (and Kurt Naasz) of Suntree, Fl.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Bryan's name to CT Dept of Energy and Environmental Protection which is funded by private donations and not tax payer funds: Donations (ct.gov)
Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to assist Bryan's family during this time and invites you to share your condolences on Bryan's Tribute Wall on this website.

Our family and the world have lost a good man. Bryan's bright light will shine on in all those who were lucky enough to know him. Everyone who knows Bryan loves Bryan. He was just that
kind of exceptional guy. He was a Renaissance Man, at home on the ball field or in a museum, in the river fishing or attending concerts.
He was strong, courageous, smart, caring and giving. He really understood people, learned what was important to them and communicated at their level. With Bryan , it was never about Bryan.
He so loved his boys and even though there were four of them he honed in on their interests and actively participated in each of their lives.
He will be so missed by all of us, but we have such wonderful memories because he shared so much of himself,
For me , I will remember the joy, fun and laughter he gave us. Love Aunt Nancy (Uncle Hugh)

Bryan didn“t know a stranger. He was a kind, sincere and thoughtful person, a beautiful person inside and out. His physical loss leaves his loved ones with unbearable heartbreak but his spirit and wonderful memories live on. RIP my dear nephew. Hope the fish are biting!

My favorite story is the one where Bryan, my brother Mark, and I climbed a tree and sat on some boards we imagined was a tree fort. Bryan brought a cooler with food and drinks up into the "tree fort" (as Bryan always seemed to do)
Within two minutes of sitting down, Bryan opened the cooler and both tree branches holding us up- SNAPPED-
We all fell to the ground in shock and after a few silent seconds, we all started laughing.
I still laugh when I think about it ..
Love you Bryan !

I had the pleasure of growing up with Bryan throughout my years in Newtown. My earliest and fondest memories are from when we were in Cub Scouts together. I can still picture him in his blue Cub Scout uniform and hat. He was such a nice friend. It's so sad to hear of his passing. His family could not have asked for more from a man than Bryan gave to them. He will be sorely missed, but I am sure his family and close friends will cherish their memories of him for a lifetime.

I spent many days and into the night fishing with your Dad.
He had the patience of Job with me as I learned how to flyfish.
He had big Fred and i over to his place on the lake after finishing and make us dinner.
When i started getting into fishing your Dad hooked me up with all the gear i needed.
I honestly don't know who was more excited me or your Dad.
We talked about alot of things on the river family, work, a little politics. He would always light up when he spoke about his boys.
The lost of a love one is part of life . May you always look to the things in life that gave him great joy and there you will find your
Dad.
Love ,
Brian Byrnes (splash)
