Carmen Jo Hart, 77, of Enfield, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. She was born on September 14, 1947, in Fairfield, Illinois, the daughter of Kenneth and Margaret (Weiss) Holder. Carmen married John Michael Hart on March 19, 1967, and he preceded her in death on September 28, 2006. She worked as a teller at Old National Bank in Carmi for 42 years until retiring in 2014. Carmen was a member of the Enfield Christian Church. She was an avid card player. Carmen liked to garden, read and travel. She loved to cook, and was noted as always being the life of the party. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Carmen is survived by her son, Eric (Beth) Hart of Carmi, IL; grandchildren, Griffin (Erica) Hart and Carlee (Brandon Morris) Hart, both of Carmi, IL; a great-grandchild, Cora Morris; sisters, Jenny (Squeeks) Klancir of Louisiana. and Joy (Steve) Hailey of Kingston Springs, TN; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Carol Weiss, Lisa Lumb and Gerald York and his family.
Funeral services for Carmen Hart will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Enfield Christian Church with burial at Enfield Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Enfield Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Carmen's memory to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Carmi Public Library and will be accepted at the church. Donations may also be mailed to 609 W. Main Street, Carmi, IL. 62821. Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield is in charge of arrangements.
