Charles Franklin Lester age 51 passed away at his home in Richlands Virginia on Sunday, April 16, 2023.
"Charlie," as everyone called him. Was born and raised in the Tazewell, Buchanan County area, the son of the late Larry Douglas and late Sandra Darlene Blankenship. He attended Richlands High School.
After school, Charlie moved to Lebanon, Tennessee where he made his home. Before returning home to Richlands in 2015, to be closer to his mother.
Charlie an avid outdoorsman had a love for fishing, and restoring old trucks. He did carpentry work, home repairs/improvements, plumbing, and mechanical work. He could do anything he tried or wanted to do if he set his mind to it. He also loved dogs he had many. A collector of guns, knives, antiques, and tools.
Charlie was a "good ole country boy," who loved riding on dirt roads. Listening to '80s, classic rock, & country music and enjoying the scenery. He was especially proud of his strong roots in the Paige Section of Buchanan County. He had a playful sense of humor, a big, sweet smile, and the genuine kindest of hearts. He was always there to help anyone in need who asked him. A true friend, Charlie was irreplaceable and will be missed terribly.
In addition to his parents. Charlie was proceeded in death by his grandparents Shirley and Bob Norton. Grandmother Nancy (Taylor) Hess and grandfather Charles Russell Hess whom he shared a close bond. Also his beloved dog, Rowdy.
Charlie is survived by a special aunt, Nancy (Mike) Ferrell of Lebanon Tennessee, special uncle Ricky (Linda) Norton of Watertown Tennessee, and aunt Barb (Tony) Maley of Phoenix Arizona.
Special friend of the family Melissa(and kids Ashlyn & Madison)Robinette, and his companion Kimberly Mounts. Additionally, he's survived by too many close friends, family, and pets to list.
The family will be having a celebration of life for Charlie at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hurst Scott funeral home for final expenses.
