Gravenor Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc.Charlotte P. Galgon, 85, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at Lancaster General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 4, 1940, in Allentown, Charlotte was the daughter of the late Earl E. and Velma (Kloiber) Maher, and the loving wife of Robert “Bob” J. Galgon.
Charlotte graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School where she acquired the skills of a secretary. After graduation she worked for General Acceptance Corporation before gaining employment at Pennsylvania Power and Light (PP&L) as an administrative assistant. It was at PP&L that she “ran into a filing cabinet,” when she saw Bob across the office. After a courtship of two years, she married Bob on June 13, 1964, when they began their journey in marriage, lasting more than 61 years.
As a loving wife and matriarch, Charlotte embraced her role as a homemaker, reflected in her passion for nurturing her family and creating a warm home environment. She was not only a wonderful mother but also a cherished member of her community. Her family-oriented nature and loving spirit endeared her to all who knew her. Charlotte had an active personality and was known for her enthusiasm for various hobbies and interests. Her commitment to family and faith was evident through her active membership at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where she contributed significantly to parish activities, including coordinating Coffee Corner for more than 12 years and running the bingo kitchen even longer. Charlotte was also a Pampered Chef consultant for many years and a member of the Women’s Club in Ephrata. She enjoyed the arts and volunteered her time at the Fulton Theatre and The Ephrata Performing Arts Center, reinforcing her dedication to helping others. A devoted sports fan, she rooted fervently for the Barnstormers, Phillies, and Eagles. Her love for sports was rivalled only by her passion for crocheting and knitting, where she showcased her talent, winning many, many ribbons at the Ephrata Fair. She also enjoyed traveling with Bob to many of our Nation's states and national parks, cruising in the Caribbean and through the Panama Canal, as well as travelling to numerous countries in Europe. One of her favorite modes of transportation was the Amtrak train. She made several trips out west and often advised that everyone should enjoy the journey at least once. Ultimately, she relished spending time with her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Her loving spirit and commitment to family will be sorely missed, but her legacy of warmth and dedication will echo in the hearts of many.
Along with her husband, she is survived by six children: Robert J. Galgon Jr., Tina M. (Christopher) Galgon-Herr, Richard E. (Susan) Galgon, Marsha S. (Lance) Barrett, Tonya L. (Jon) Lackey, and Angela C. Galgon; thirteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Cynthia E. Galgon, and her sister, Julianna D. Hussmann.
A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on December 13, 2025, at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, 320 Church Ave, Ephrata, PA 17522. Prior to the service, there will be visitation time in the church, starting at 10 A.M.. A celebration of life gathering will occur after the service in the Father Kuhn Hall.
