Jet was a 1972 graduate of Mentor High School and a graduate of Lakeland Community College. He worked for his father at Nel-Ack Sheet Metal and then worked for East Ohio Gas Company. Jet also served as the Past Mayor of Geneva-on-the-Lake where he served for two terms from 2008 - 2015. Jet was an avid softball player and inherited his nickname from the speed he exhibited on the field. He was a member of the Geneva Eagles.
He is survived by his sister, Caren (Frank) Hunchuck; nieces and nephews, Shawnette Wilson, Wesley Heath, and Brad Heath; and five great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Heath; brothers, Gary and William "Guy" Nelson; and nieces, Jessica and Sammi Nelson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 5-7PM with a funeral service following at 7:00PM at Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077. Interment will be in Perry Cemetery, Perry, Ohio.
