Chillicothe-Debbie Hofmann (Werner) died peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 after a brief illness. She spent the last 51 years with her best friend and love of her life, Rolin.
She loved her family, and was so incredibly proud of them. Some of her favorite things included random pop ins with treats (usually ice cream or "foo foo" coffee), helping care for and run grandkids (and extended grandkids) to events or watching her grandkids shine at the things they loved to do. She was always one of their biggest fans. She also loved riding motorcycles and traveling with Rolin.
Debbie was born in Medford, Wisconsin on January 30, 1951 to James and Fern Werner. She married Rolin on April 22, 1972. They shared 51 beautiful years together. He survives her, as do their three children. Alyssa (Chip) Short of Chillicothe, IL, Jennie (Ben) Douglas of Arlington, OH, and Jesse (Molly) Hofmann of Washington, IL. Debbie has six grandchildren, Ethaan and Aaden Engrissei, Cody and Elizabeth (Lizzy) Short, and Annie and Natalie Hofmann.
Debbie is also survived by her siblings, Sally (Jim) Hauser of San Rafael, CA, Barbara (Terry) Beachler of Chillicothe, IL, Suzie (Jeff) Zircher of Bartonville, IL, Mary (Dale) Mokry of Medford, WI and Jimmy Werner of Green Bay, WI, sister in-law Linda (Joe) Couri, brother-in-law Dale (Conni) Hofmann, both of Peoria, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charlie Werner, in-laws Paul and Irene (Ted) Hofmann-Hoeltje, and a grandson, Ryne Hofmann.
Debbie adored her grandchildren. Her family cherishes the many memories they have together and will miss her dearly. She loved her Wisconsin roots, the Chicago Cubs and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Debbie's family is grateful to those who helped care for her in her final days at OSF.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Wright and Salmon Mortuary. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 2, 2023 at St. Philomena Catholic Church with an additional visitation at 9:30 AM. Father David Richardson will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial donations may be given to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or to St. Jude in her honor.
