Dennis F. Person

Dennis F. Person, 81, passed away on August 10, 2023, in Rockford, Illinois. Born in Rockford on May 2, 1942, son to Thorsten and Neva (Sagen) Person. A 1960 graduate of Harlem High School, Dennis went on to Texas Lutheran University where he met the love of his life, Janet Koepsel. They married on September 9, 1966. Later he also attended Georgetown University. After settling back in Rockford Dennis worked for Dana Corporation where he retired after 25 years as a chemical engineer. Dennis enjoyed traveling both for work and with his family all around the world, and when he was home, he was often found working on his oil paintings or woodworking, or trouble shooting things around the house. Dennis also enjoyed being involved with Dale Carnegie Professional Development Courses, being a leader for his son's boy scouts group, or happily supporting his wife's gardening and quilting habits.
He will be missed by those who loved him most, his wife of 56 years, Janet; his children Carl Person and Kristine (Craig) Homb; bonus grandchildren Nick, Lexi, and Megan; his siblings Sharrell and Bruce Person. He is predeceased by his parents and two infant children.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service, 11:00 a.m., at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108. Interment to follow at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice.
