Douglas J. Massey

Douglas James Massey, 80, of Rolling Prairie, IN, passed away on Monday May 23, 2022, at Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle. He was born in South Bend to the late William and Dorothy Massey. On September 8, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Hartman, who preceded him in death on March 1, 2021. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Chuck Galena) Massey of Rolling Prairie; granddaughter, Ashley (Ryan) Hooley of Rolling Prairie and his two little dollies, Layla and Charlee; and by three brothers, Dan (Judy) Massey of OH, Ron (Tammy) Massey of IL and Mike Massey of New Carlisle. Mr. Massey worked numerous jobs, including being a pattern maker for Teledyne Casting Service. He was an avid golfer, loved to travel to his Florida home and go on cruises. He also loved flying model airplanes and cooking chicken wings on the grill. He enjoyed refurbishing anything he could get his hands on whether it be his airplanes, golf carts or his Jeep. He loved taking his little dollies on boat rides and golf cart rides around Saugany Lake. A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. EST Tuesday May 31, 2022 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St., New Carlisle, IN, where a funeral service for Douglas will follow at 4 p.m. EST in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Legion Post #297, New Carlisle.
