John F. Foster, Jr., 83, of Lafayette, Indiana, went to be with his Lord on February 28, 2024, at Franciscan Hospital, in Lafayette, Indiana. John was born on September 26, 1940 in Frankfort, Indiana to the late John F. Foster, Sr., and Mary (Baker) Foster and was one of three children. John was a graduate of Frankfort High School and was a truck driver for over 30 years. John was a man of many talents, who loved life and loved to laugh. He was a master craftsman with woodworking and leatherwork and made various pieces for his friends and family. He enjoyed puzzles and even learned to cross stitch and crocheting. John was an avid HAM radio operator too. Then later in life, John learned to fly a plane. He would often fly the family to enjoy the scenery and to fly to different towns for dinner. He met and married the love of his life that he affectionately called his "gear jamming, pistol packing Mamma" Connie (Nance) Foster on October 16, 1964. Connie earned her commercial driver's license too and she and John traveled the Country together in their semi-truck as employees of Stoops Express. Through good times and bad, thick or thin, John and Connie never left each other's side for 59 years. John made sure that he was home for each and every wedding anniversary. John was an active member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church of Lafayette and will be greatly missed as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and dear friend. John is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Foster, sons, John F. Foster, III of Dayton, Ohio, Christopher Lee Foster of Flora, Indiana and daughter Nancy Alley (Richard) of Otterbein, Indiana. Five grandchildren: Johnny Foster, IV, Albert Foster, Robert Stewart, Myriah Hall and Makenzie Cheever, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Doyle Lynn Foster, sister Odett Thornton and beloved dog Cinnamon. Visitation for John is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5 th, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 1024 Elizabeth Street, Lafayette, Indiana 47904. Funeral services will begin immediately following John's visitation beginning at 1:00 PM at the church. For John's last "run", he will then be escorted to Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Cemetery by semi-truck to his place of rest. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.tippecanoememorygardens.com. Tippecanoe Funeral &Cremation Services is honored to be assisting the Foster family with John's arrangements.

These next few months are going to be extremely rough for me and my family. This Christmas is our very first Christmas without him. I had gone up to the hospital multiple times a week to spend time with my family. My grandma and great-grandma never left the hospital those few weeks.

I remember him always telling me that he knew enough Spanish to get in a fight with someone. I love him oh so very much, and miss him every day. I love you great-grandpa, and I miss you.
