Laquana Quanzell Marshall, 53 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Life Point Church, 610 N. Tennessee Street, Cartersville, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Providence Cemetery, 165 Old Tennessee Rd. NE Cartersville, Georgia 30121. The family will receive friends and family on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement. This service will be LIVE-STREAMED.
LaQuana Quanzell Bray was born on May 18, 1971 in Bartow County to Samuel and Catherine Johnson Bray. "Quana" as she was affectionately called by all that knew her. She attended several schools growing up from the Phillipines Islands to Dayton, Ohio, and Cartersville School System and completing her education at Cass High School. After graduation she attended Savannah State College and Floyd College.
She was employed at Cartersville High School where she developed a great love for special need children later becoming the front desk secretary until her health began to decline.
Quana accepted Christ into her life at an early age; she attended St. Luke A.M.E. Church, singing in the Norris Sagers Choir and working in the Youth Department. She also joined New Beginnings COGIC, serving as Youth Director and Choir Director. She was currently a member of Community Outreach COGIC under the leadership of the late Pastor Arenzo Hines. Quana was currently serving under the leadership of Pastor Perrella Hines and worked as the Youth Director until her declining health would no longer allow her to attend church services or church functions.
At the age of sixteen Quana founded along with the late Coach Matthew Hill a girls drill team and named them the "Hill Toppers". She continued directing and coaching cheerleaders and the drill teams; the Black Essence and the Diamond Divas.
Quana was a loving mother to her children and she held a special bond with her parents, siblings and friends.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Calvin Abbott; aunts, Emma Jean Abbott, Kay Frances Murphy, Mildred Abbott ad Marie Oliver; uncles, Bobby Abbott and Clay Bray; maternal grandparents, Jesse and Ora Johnson; and her paternal grandparents, Willard and Agnes Bray; and other relatives.
Those left behind to hold precious memories of her are; children, LaKevaun Green, Jah Kwamenah Marshall, JaMeriquan (Haley) Marshall, JaQuana Marshall, and JaZariah Marshall; grandchildren, Jeremiah (JT) Marshall, Kalani Green and Aria Marshall; and their father Kwame Amin Marshall; parents, Samuel and Catherine Bray; brother, Darius Bray; sisters, LaToya Bray and Veronica Doss; several uncles and aunts, Rufus (Linda) Johnson, Sylvia McGuire, Joyce Cook, David Bray, Roger (Louise) Bray, Jimmy (Cynthia) Bray and Ceasar Bray; special niece and nephew/son, Torion Cooley, Keneedra Bray, Grayson Hill, Tarius Bray, Tremayne Bray, Wilziah McConnell, James Doss, and Marquis Doss; and a host of other relatives and friends.
