Roger Paul Weeks
June 24, 1952 - August 17, 2023
Roger Paul Weeks peacefully went home to be with the Lord on August 17, 2023, after a seven-year battle with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). Roger was born in Fort Worth, Texas on June 24, 1952, the third child of Opal LaVerne Grosse Weeks and Paul Luther Weeks.
A 1970 graduate of Eastern Hills High School, Roger devoted his life to agriculture. A true cowboy in every sense of the word, he owned and managed a cattle and wheat ranch in Poolville, Texas, bravely rode bulls in his early years, and shepherded his daughters at livestock shows.
Roger was a longtime member of the Parker County Farm Bureau and served as president for over 20 years. He served on the board of the Parker County Livestock Association, a member of the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, member of the ASC Committee, and president of the Poolville school board for two terms.
Roger loved animals of all kinds, listening to George Strait albums, country western dancing, traveling to the tropics, spending time with his family, and aviation. In addition to ranching, he worked for American Airlines as a mechanic, overhauling jets from 1999 to his retirement in 2013. Roger also volunteered his time and talents at the Vintage Flying Museum in Fort Worth where he worked on WWII warplanes.
His parents preceded Roger in death. Survivors: wife of 12 years, Jane Weeks; daughters Cheyenne Benton (husband Bill); Stephanie Shirley (husband Brandon); Taylor Weeks (husband Jacob Maynard); and Natalie Weeks (husband Stephen Levy); sisters Judy Blanchard (husband Richard); Paula Lemmon (husband Ken); and Deanna Thompson; grandchildren Reese, Kyler, Harper, Jax and Ellason (Shirley) and Henry, June and Harlan (Maynard); and several nieces and nephews.
