Stephen Lee Hardaway, 68, passed away on April 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Parker County.
Stephen was born January 25, 1957, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Sidney Leonard Hardaway and Johnnie Ruth Stokes Hardaway. He was the youngest child with three older sisters. Stephen and his father had a very close and special relationship until Sidney’s death in 2004. He grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from Eastern Hills High School in 1975. Stephen and his ex-wife, DeeDee, raised three sons, Houston, Grant, and Scott, in Arlington, Texas.
Stephen worked for and retired from Lockheed Martin after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed his old Bronco, playing the banjo and guitar, singing cowboy songs, The Three Stooges, The Andy Griffith Show, and being outdoors. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his three boys.
Stephen was a devout Christian who loved the Lord.
Stephen is survived by his sons: Houston Hardaway and wife, Rosey of Dobbs Ferry, New York, Grant Hardaway of Austin, and Scott Hardaway of Dallas; sisters: Elane Hardaway of Weatherford, Carol Rohwedder and husband, Keith of Weatherford, and Gay Davidenko and husband, Scott of Benbrook; in addition to nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Johnnie Ruth Hardaway.
A visitation in honor of Stephen will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m., both at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, located at 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
A graveside inurnment will take place at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery, in Fort Worth, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, a donation made to CJDFoundation.org or a charity of your choice will be greatly appreciated.
