Barbara Ann DeSantis

1937 - 2021

Barbara Ann DeSantis, 84 passed away peacefully on Friday June 4, 2021. Born February 28, 1937 in Schenectady, NY, she resided in Scotia, NY most of her life. Barbara was the daughter of the late Kathryn and Luther Klages. She graduated from Scotia High School in 1955. Barbara married Rocco (Rocky) DeSantis on April 16, 1955. They were married for 43 years before Rocco passed in 1998. Barbara worked for many years at the Italian United Baking Company in Schenectady and then worked at Burnt Hills Veterinarian Hospital over 25 years before retiring in 2013. She leaves behind three children. Colleen Cerniglia, Jeanine Deyo and Michael DeSantis. Sister of Nelson, Charles, Mary Ellen, and Katy. Barbara is also survived by four grandchildren. Jesse Conroy, Jessica DeSantis, Carson Deyo and Skylar Deyo. One great grandchild Malcolm and seven step great grandchildren, Jack, Elliott, Kate, Ruby, Ryan, Eliza, and Desmond. Barbara was an amazing, independent, strong, capable woman. Barbara's love for animals, especially horses was well known. She loved the outdoors and travelled the world. Africa was one of her favorite vacations. Calling hours will be Thursday June 10th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, Inc, 1 Mohawk Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
