David T. Benware

1952 - 2015

HAMPTON - David Thomas Benware, age 63, of Hampton, VA passed away on October 18, 2015. Born in Saratoga County, New York on May 23, 1952, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Benware. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer. David graduated from Alfred University with a BS in Political Science, later receiving his Master's Degree from FIT. He served in the U.S. Army for fourteen years. After leaving the Army, he worked in transportation for various school systems. At the time of death he was Director of Transportation for Hampton City Schools. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Saturday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton, Va. Immediately following at 2 PM, David's life will be remembered and celebrated in the funeral home chapel. Surviving is his wife, Debbie, son Jason and his wife Melanie, brothers Ray, Bill, Tommy, Louie, Paul and Matthew along with their spouses and children.
