David Farmer Obituary

David William Farmer
November 7, 1940 - November 14, 2021
Fort Worth, Texas - David William Farmer went to be with The Lord on Sunday, November 14, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
David was born in San Angelo, Texas to Harriet and Russell Farmer and he was the eldest of three children. David attended Lily B. Clayton Elementary, McLean Middle School and graduated from Paschal High School in the class of 1958. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity at Texas Christian University and graduated in the class of 1962. After graduation, he remained in the city he loved and was an avid Frog Fan for the rest of his life.
David met Carol Wilson while both attended TCU and married after graduation, then welcomed children, Wendy and Jeff. He worked in the Human Resource field of the banking industry. He was Vice-President of Human Resources at Texas American Bancshares and later joined the Whitney Smith Company to lead the Executive Search and Outplacement Consulting Group. Throughout his career he formed many friendships that lasted through the decades.
After Carol's untimely death in 1986, a renewed acquaintance with former school mate Margaret Harrison resulted in a loving marriage of 34 years and blended family including her daughter, Amy. Throughout his life "Big Dave" worked hard to support his family and friends both emotionally and spiritually. An elder for over 40 years at McKinney Memorial (now Doxology) Bible Church, the congregation appreciated his kindness, love for the Lord, and listening ear. Dave was dedicated to his community. He maintained a long-term relationship with the Lena Pope Home and with numerous mission efforts of the church.
Dave's greatest joy was being with people especially his grandchildren. Dave set an example through his actions every day about what it means to be a Christ follower.
David was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Carol; sister, Janet Dean; and brother Phillip Farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Wendy Chapa and husband, Eddie; son, Jeff and wife, Katie; daughter, Amy Sutton and husband, John; and grandchildren, Patrick and Caroline Farmer, and Grace and Grant Chapa; three nieces and one nephew.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Doxology Church on Arborlawn Drive in Fort Worth.
His family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lena Pope Home, 3200 Sanguinet St., Fort Worth, Texas 76107 or Doxology Bible Church, 4505 Arborlawn Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76109.
