I just heard of Mr. Burgin's passing today, and I was saddened to hear of it because he was such a wonderful man. My family and I met him and his wife in 1989 when we started attending First Baptist Church. I was 16 years old at the time. He was later my principal at Arlington High school, and when I graduated, he presented me with my high school diploma. Several years later, he officiated over my wedding ceremony in 1997. He and his wife Ms Tillie made a great impact on my life in ways they never knew. Rest well Mr Burgin. Thank you for being a great man. Your presence here on earth will be missed, but the angels in heaven are rejoicing at your arriival.

Bob Burgin was a good friend. If you knew Bob, he was one of the kindest, most gentle, a truly genuine men we have ever known. Working alongside Bob was a pleasant and professional experience. In every way, his common sense and concern for others led his interactions and decisions. If you knew him, you respected, admired and loved him for his abilities and relationships on a personal and professional level.
Bob Burgin leaves a hole in our community and our hearts. He will be missed, but not forgotten. Rest In Peace!

I wouldn't be a teacher today if Tillie hadn't introduced me to Mr. Burgin and he hadn't given me the opportunity to have my first job at Nichols Junior High. He was kind and so wise. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and I can still hear his laughter. I remember when he left school to join Tillie as they created Mission Arlington. He was right by her side in every endeavor. He is a shining example of what Jesus would have looked like quietly serving and loving others, guiding them to a closer walk with both our Heavenly Father and with human beings. He was an Arlington treasure as an educator and as a missionary. Praying for Jesus to wrap His loving arms around all of you during this sad time.

I saw the message preceding mine below saying Bob was a gentle, wonderful man & i felt that seemed to say it perfectly.
I met Bob way back in 1978 while i was just a 14 yr old kid at Shackelford Jr High in Arlington & he was a new teacher there. Even tho i was only 14, he certainly impressed me greatly! And altho I haven't seen him in over 40 years & barely even knew him then- still i immediately knew i had to show my appreciation for him anyway. I can say however, that i am aware he & Tillie have immense contributions to life in Arlington over many years. So as we've all heard it asked "what would Jesus do?"- my only conclusion can be that was never a question for Bob Burgin- it was instead the motivation behind his entire life.
So altho i barely knew him & even so long ago- i think to myself that if even i feel so strongly the loss of Bob Burgin, then i can only imagine the loss felt by Tillie & their family. But they can be assured he made a wonderful impact on countless others in Arlington & actually, all around the world as well.

Dear Burgin family,
I am so sorry for this loss and send love and prayers all around. Bob was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. He served His Lord and church with all his heart. I admired him so much. I had seen him last year walking as he always did. So committed to living a good life. I love you all and pray for God's love and comfort for these difficult times.
Love always,
