We are so deeply sorry for your loss. We had become neighbors on mohican way. Cathy was always a pleasure to speak with and I loved how she would always invite Jacob into her stash of preschool toys for the summers. I will miss seeing her at Halloween time and her special treats for the kids on your street. Thank you and Whitney for sharing her wonderful spirit with us. Anka,Matt,Jacob,& Josh.

Brad and Whitney...

We are so sorry to hear about Cathy. She taught my 3 children, who are now 12, 10, 10 at Little Blessings. She warmed our hearts and brought joy to our lives...even after we moved on from LB. It was always such a treat to run into her at the grocery or Hanby House. It has been a sad household around here since I told the kids of her passing, but they are sharing their sweet memories and that is helping. I hope that all of your family and dear friends find comfort in each other and in the fact that she was so loved by so many.

Dear Smith Family,

I want to send a heart filled note, about Mrs.Smith, she was my oldest son Matt's preschool teacher and to this day she has always been a wonderful heart filled person, always with a smile no matter how she felt or what she was going through. My family is totally devistated over her passing. We have always admired her for her love and faith for others. She supported Matt in everything he did throughout his whole life. We owe her a huge thank you for where and what Matt is doing now. She was a great leader and a wonderful mentor to all my kids and I will always be blessed and thankful for that. Brad and Whitney,

Cathy lived a life of values that radiated like the ripples in a pond. She was a woman with inner and outer beauty and is now the newest jewel of a star in the night sky.

Mr. Brad Smith and Miss Whitney,
I do not know either of you but as soon as I saw this angelic face I just knew she was someone special. After reading all the other comments my thoughts were confirmed. I am praying for you both and your entire family. Be blessed that you were able to have such a wonderful woman in your lives for the time you did. Thinking of you both.
May God continue to keep you both in his loving care.

Brad, Whitney & family,
Cathy was an amazing woman. We were fortunate to get to know Cathy at Church of the Master and then for her to be Brent's preschool teacher at Little Blessings. She and Alice were a perfect team, and I remember Cathy always greeting students and their parents with a warm smile and bubbly greeting. We feel blessed to have known Cathy and had her as a part of our lives. She loved you both very much, and her eyes would light up when she would mention her family. Blessings and comfort for you during this difficult time.
Love,
Mark, Chris, Jacob, Trevor & Brent Dilley

To the Thornburg Family, We have you in our prayers. I was Jack's secretary many years ago at MJ&J. Cathy's picture and her beautiful smile reminded me of her Dad. He had a horrible handwriting and often I would have to ask about his words, etc. One of his favorite sayings was "You type what you think it is and I will stand behind you". That he did. He loved his family. We hope you find strength from God as he wraps his arms of love around you during this sad time.

I am sure that we are one family among so many...Cathy (Mrs. Smith to my three kids) touched our lives profoundly at Little Blessings. She loved each of my kids so perfectly, so individually. She understood their challenges and reveled in their victories. Abby, Rob, and Dan still joke around about her sock checks -- we never see fun socks without thinking of her.

I am so very, very sorry for your loss. Know that she is loved, so loved, and that she changed the children she reached by preparing them to love school, and more importantly, to love one another.

God bless.

Cathy and I were best friends as kids, and although our lives later moved in different directions, we always kept in touch and shared many beautiful memories. I always loved her energy, spunk and sense of humor. The way she lived her life and the way she faced death have been inspiring and uplifting for all who knew her.

Cathy, even though the prayer shawl I've been knitting for you isn't finished yet, I know that those prayers are with you. You will always live large in my heart. Thank you, my friend, for everything. I love you.

Brad, Whitney, Cathy was a very special person to all of us in Rotary. Her sense of humor and her caring for others made her someone you just had to like being with. As we prepared for Brad’s installation dinner when he became president of Rotary, Cathy worked with us developing a story line for our version of “The Wizard of Oz”. She did the dialog of the characters using verse that only she could author. She had a way of developing poetry that was right on the mark. As she presented her first draft to our committee, she had everyone laughing so hard that we had to take a break before we could continue with our meeting. That was just Cathy! You both had much to be proud of and many, many good memories to cherish. Those of us in Rotary were blessed to have here as part of our lives.

Brad & Whitney,
Our hearts are broken but yet in some way happy that Cathy will suffer and be in pain no longer. She had the courage and strength of no one I've ever known. I'll miss her terribly. You have our utmost sympathy and love now and always. We'll always be here for you.
Much Love and Lots of Hugs,

Cathy was a person who did so much for so many. My children were so fortunate to have Cathy as their "first teacher", what a wonderful way to start their young lives! Thank you Brad and Whitney for sharing her with us.
