Jean Schottenstein Obituary

SCHOTTENSTEIN Jean Schottenstein, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at her residence in Miami Beach, Fl, where she lived the past 10 years. Preceded in death by husband Leon Schottenstein in 1971 and brother Richard Schermer in 2007. She is survived by her 3 loving children, Ilene (Daniel) Wuensch, Thomas (Lea) Schottenstein, William (Amy) Schottenstein; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and dear friends. Jean will always be remembered as a vibrant and philanthropic person. Along with her husband Leon, she was an active member of the Columbus community as well as the Columbus Jewish community for many years and was a long-time supporter and member of numerous organizations including: Heritage House; Jewish Family Services; Columbus Torah Academy; Hadassah; Israel Bonds; Agudas Achim Synagogue and Sisterhood; B'nai B'rith; Columbus Jewish Federation; Columbus Jewish Foundation; Columbus Jewish Historical Society, City of Hope; Children's Hospital and many more. The family will sit shiva at the residence of Tom and Lea Schottenstein where they will receive friends for the week. Services will be held at 5:10 p.m. and 7:30 a.m., excluding Friday evening and Saturday morning. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ahavas Sholom Synagogue, Columbus Community Kollel, Chabad of Columbus or The American Heart Association. Online guestbook at www.epsteinmemorial.com.
