Ellen Schlezinger Schottenstein, 96, of Columbus peacefully passed on September 1, 2022. Ellen was born on July 20, 1926 to Louis and Lucille Schlezinger. She was married to Leonard Schottenstein. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, and brothers Clifford Schlezinger and Marvin Schlezinger. Ellen is survived and will be deeply missed by her children Howard (Linda) Schottenstein. Debbie (Barry) Adelman, Richard (Wendy) Schottenstein, Susan (Bradley) Blair, Karin (Marc) Swissman, 16 grandchildren (11 spouses), 24 great-grandchildren and a large extended family, including brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and friends, all of whom she adored. After graduating Bexley High School Class, 1944, she attended Ohio State University where she majored in art until Leonard's sweet proposal. Although a gifted artist, her favorite and chosen career was raising her family with Leonard. Ellen was an active volunteer with Congregation Tifereth Israel Sisterhood and attending services, Hadassah, and PTA. She always made time to play Maj Jong with her friends. Ellen never refused a glass of red wine and anything chocolate. Always with a positive outlook, Ellen faced and conquered many health challenges in her life, including Breast Cancer. Special thank you to the dedicated caregivers, nurses, and staff at The Cottage and Zusman Hospice. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Tifereth Israel, 1354 E. Broad Street, Columbus with interment to follow at New Tifereth Israel Cemetery. Livestream available at www.tiferethisrael.org Memorial donations preferred to Congregation Tifereth Israel www.tiferethisrael.org Wexner Heritage Village Cottage or Zusman Hospice at www.whv.org or charity of choice.
