Joseph R Wolfel, age 83, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at County View Nursing Home in Sunbury, Ohio on June 20, 2021. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 30, 1931, to the late Joseph and Muriel Wolfel (Walker). He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Teresa Wolfel, and his brothers Thomas Wolfel and Bill Wolfel. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Wolfel; children, Joseph (Mariah) Wolfel, Irene (Keith) McKinley, Debra (John) Lee, John (Amanda Fetter) Wolfel; brother, David (Martha) Wolfel; grandchildren, Michael, Kyle, Logan, Johnny, Jessica, Jordan, Danielle, and David; great-grandchildren, Hazel, Autumn, Jack, Ryder, and Brooklyn; sisters-in-law, Roslie Shotts, Janet Owen, and Susie Wolfel; brother-in-law, Gary Owen; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joe graduated from Mifflin High School worked many years at Hockaden and Associates and was a longtime member of the Sunbury Eagles. He served in the Ohio National Guard for 37 years. He was a good natured, loyal husband, father, and grandfather who was involved in all the activities. He enjoyed Pee Wee Football and Baseball, fishing, golfing, vacationing in Colorado, animals, and being with his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Family will receive friends on Friday, June 25, 2021, from 2-4pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTH, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, Ohio 43229, where a funeral service will take place at 4pm.
