Shirley Toler Obituary

Toler Shirley "Toni" Toler was born in Kansas City, Missouri. She died, surrounded by family, at her daughter's home in Phoenix on August 31, 2016, after a hard fought battle with ALS. Toni attended Wayne State University in Detroit. In 1957, Toni married William A. Toler and moved to Columbus, Ohio. Toni was a woman dedicated to her family; she stood at its center and, with unwavering devotion, gave it structure, support and life. Selfless, her love for those she cared about knew no bounds. Toni was a Member of The Columbus of Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and The Columbus Chapter of The Carousels, Inc. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Toler, M.D., Judge Lynn Toler; son-in-law, Eric N. Mumford; sister, Jean Livingston; grandsons, Xavier Mumford and William Toler-Mumford; as well as a host of other family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her name to the ALS Association at web.alsa.org/toler.

There are not words that can express how sorry I am to hear about your precious mother's passing. I was very stunned to hear this news recently, and still can't believe that I missed the news when it happened. Watching your show religiously have allowed me to gain valuable insights from the wisdom you inherited from your mother. You were truly blessed to be blessed with your mom.
