Cody was born on July 15, 1990 in Houston to Kenneth Edward and Dorinda Marie Rau Brandon. He passed away at his home in Houston on Thursday, September 28, 2017.
He was a 2008 graduate of Sealy High School, attended Blinn College in Brenham and Sealy, and completed his education in December, 2013 at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacodoches, TX, majoring in International Business. While at SFA, Cody was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, serving in several leadership roles.
Cody enjoyed a lifelong experience of spending many weekends, vacations and family reunions in Palacios, his second home. He enjoyed fishing and exhibited great patience to keep on trying when the fish weren't biting.
Beginning in summer of 1998 thru 2011, Cody travelled to Canada each year with his brother and dad visiting all 10-provinces. He enjoyed the cities, especially Toronto, as well as the mountain resorts and national parks in Alberta and British Columbia.
He was interested in cooking and became an excellent chef for the family, using his skills to make adaptions to recipes which greatly enhanced the flavors and presentations of the many fantastic dishes that he prepared.
Always the helper from when he was little until he was big and grown, Cody first learned to make pens, mechanical pencils, letter openers and other items from wood that he turned. He progressed to larger projects using more advanced woodworking skills while remodeling and repairing at home and making stunning gifts for friends and loved ones.
At the young age of 7, Cody was preceded in death by his mother, Dori, after her 3-year battle against breast cancer. He fought long and hard to overcome this tragedy and hardship which had been thrust upon him. He also was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Trude Ann Brandon; maternal grandparents, Earl and Lucille Rau; his uncle/godfather, Bob Ratliff; and his uncle, David Rau.
Cody is survived by his father, Ken; his brother, Brady; his great-aunt, Bettye Duffy Beason; his aunt/ godmother, Pam Rau Ratliff; his aunt/godmother, Ann Brandon Sturrock; his uncle/godfather, John Sturrock; his uncle and aunt, Thomas and Georgene Brandon; his uncle and aunt, James and Becky Brandon Osland; his uncle, David Bolling; his uncle and aunt, Dennis and Louise Rau; his aunt, Penny Rau Simmons and numerous beloved cousins.
