Its been eight years ago and I am very grateful for the reminder note concerning Dale's passing as it made me remember a man I feel a strong sense of friendship and respect for. I was elected president of the bus drivers association and immediately requested Dale's appointment to a committee originally formed by the school administration to suggest their ideas to the bus drivers association but with Dale and other drivers we flipped the purpose of the committee to carry drivers ideas to the School Administration. Dale was the real man of leadership and added a strong voice when speaking for the drivers association ... he was respected by the Administration and his arguments for the drivers usually carried our agenda and concerns forward. I personally had the utmost respect for Dale and wish I have known him much longer that the few years we worked together for Noblesville Schools. My sincere regards to his family. H.L. Collett

Dear Susanne, Jackie and other members of the Snelling family. We have lost a dear friend and "team mate" in Dale's passing. I met him @ Purdue when he took me and Joe Stepanek to mass @ St. Thomas in his model T Ford. He and I played our last game as "Boiler" oldtimers at the tender age of 42. Jackie and my CC became friends while freshman @ Purdue. He was the BEST and that beautiful smile just got bigger and bigger as time went on. RiP old friend billyj

Thank you to all of the wonderful messages honoring our father Dale Snelling. We wish to share a few thoughts of what it meant to have him as a Dad:
Through his thoughts, words and deeds, Dad told us he was proud of us, he taught us we could do anything we put our minds to, he taught us that no one is better than anyone else, and he showed us to stand up for our principles and how to help people in need. He showed us how to die with dignity. But most importantly, he showed us how to live. Thank you Dad. We love you and already miss you.

My best memories of Dale are when we were involved with our daughters in the Indian Princess program and went camping at Flat Rock.We did not see each other a great deal after our family moved from Noblesville, but whenever we would see each other it was as though we had never moved. He always had my respect and will always be remembered for his many contributions and accomplishments.
Jackie our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and the Snelling family.

Our condolences to Dale's family; and we thank them for sharing him with so many of us all these years. He coached football at Knox High School during the 50's. We learned a lot from Coach Snelling, and even today, whenever we get together, we enjoy telling our tales of being in his care. Thank you, Dale, for your encouragement, love and dedication. You molded many of our lives and was a mentor to us all.
Rest in Gods care now. You did Him proud!

To the Snelling Family,
Our prayers are with you all during this painful time. Mr. Snelling was a friend of my parents and had helped them find our family home. When I was in high school, Mr. Snelling was my bus driver. I always thought this was ironic since he was on the City Council but I was the only person on the bus who knew him. He would always make me laugh on our ride home from school. He was so involved with the community, and he will be missed. God bless!

Suzanne,
What a wonderful man! I remember how kind he always was to Erik when you would help him with speech. And Dale, through the years has always shown a nice interest in Erik. He was lucky to have you and you were fortunate to have him. I always enjoyed every talk i ever had with Dale! He is with God in a beautiful place!

Snelling Family,
There is a saying: Your spark can become a flame and change everything. Dale was that spark in Noblesville. He was so dedicated, but never asked for recognition.I have admired his leadership skills from a distance. I want to thank you for sharing your husband, father, grandfather with the community. He put in a lot of hrs helping in all corners of this community and we are all better for it. All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle....Dale was shining bright his whole life and now it flickers in all that he touched.
In deepest sympathy,

Dale was one of the most accomplished men I had the privilege of working with during the 18 years I lived in Noblesville. I was honored to count his as my friend and to have worked with him as a school bus driver and as one of those elected by the drivers to represent them in the Bus Drivers Association. A very effective advocate with a very strong sense of right and wrong with strength of character to stand tall. He served his fellows well and will be missed for his wit, friendliness, and wise counsel. Goodby friend.

The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. (Psalms 126:3 NIV)
I am grateful for the many years of public service we all received from Councilman Dale Snelling.
I am also grateful of the example he set for the all of us in civil service. He served well and he served with all his heart. Dale Snelling truly cared for the citizens and about each issue brought to him by them. He showed us all to listen first. I will always remember how open and approachable he was. Dale always had time for questions and always gave honest answers. He was a gentleman, always kind and always gracious and I will always hold him in high regard.
Dale is now experiencing heaven. I remember to rejoice in that; but, selfishly, I will miss him.
His death leaves a huge hole in our hearts and our city because he was such an important part of the city and many of our lives.
Even as we mourn his death, we give thanks to God for all the love, for the wonderful memories we all hold of him, and especially the special joy we all felt when we were with him.
When I think of him I appreciate all the many years of service and I always think of him smiling. He was very much a man of honor.
Serving Joyfully,
Cindy Hawkins
