Adeline "Addie" Myrtle Dile passed peacefully from the loving arms of her family into the loving arms of our Lord on October 2nd, 2023. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she took special joy spending time with her family, and never met anyone who she didn't consider a friend.
Addie was born Adaline Brindle on January 25, 1938 to Kenneth Hissong Brindle and Ruth Anna (Hess) Brindle in Chambersburg, PA. She came to New Mexico in 1966 and moved to Estancia in 1972. She worked for Torrance County first as the Chief Deputy Jailer and later as a Deputy Sheriff. Over the years she also worked for 3L Land & Home, Cortez Gas, a waitress at the Cottage Café, and at Mike's Friendly Store in Moriarty for as long as her health permitted.
Addie defeated breast cancer. She loved talking to people, and would regularly run into friends that she had made years before.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Paul Hess, Ronnie Hess and Johnny Brindle, and sisters Jane Yablonski and Betty Hoover. She is survived by sister Esther Smith (Ron), and Mary Grace Burkett, daughters Candy (Donnie) and Vickie (Ronnie), and sons Bruce (Vicki) and Ray, 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, October 7 at Estancia United Methodist Church, 600 Williams Ave. at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be from 10:00-10:30 a.m. Interment at Estancia Memorial Cemetery will follow the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Harris Hanlon Mortuary.
