Albert Hollingworth 93, passed away on May 14, 2024 at Kent Regency in Warwick. Born December 21, 1930 to the late John and Ethel Hollingworth, he was a past resident of Warwick, Chepachet, Cranston and Venice, Florida.
Al graduated from Gorton High School in 1948 and soon enlisted in the US Air Force. He served in the Air/Sea Rescue unit at K2 and K13 bases in Korea before shipping out to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. Al attended Bryant University on the GI Bill and graduated in 1957. He worked for the former Porter Cable Company for 42 years. He was past President of CLCF and coached for many years for Federal Dairy Football, Little League Baseball and Boxing. Al was a proud member of the Harmony Lodge #9 F+AM and was a member of the Scottish Rite and was also a Shriner. During retirement, he volunteered for Shriner's Hospital in Springfield Massachusetts driving for the families of burn patients. In addition he was a member of Woodridge Congregational Church in Cranston.
Al is survived by his son Craig Hollingworth and wife Diane as well as grandchildren Claudia Parsons and husband Lt. Col Stephen Parsons (USAF), Katy Norell and husband Kalle, Courtney, Daniel and Abby Hollingworth. Al was the proud great-grandfather of Maria and Michael Parsons.
Al was pre-deceased by his wife Alice Briggs Hollingworth, son Scott Hollingworth (Leonor de Armas), wife Virginia Vallone Hollingworth, brothers John and Tom Hollingworth and sister Ethel
Thompson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00-10:00am in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. A Funeral Service will be held immediately after the visitation commencing at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers kindly make donations to the Shriner's Hospital.
