Obituary
Albert Johnson Mc Rant was born in Hopkins, SC February 29, 1943, (Leap Year baby) to Alexander and Sally (Goldie) Mc Rant. Albert made his transition from this life on Monday, June 5, 2023.
Albert received his early education in Richland County Public Schools. He graduated from Hopkins High School, where he played football and basketball. Albert was known for his famous left-handed jump shot. He was voted "Best Dress" by his classmates. He also drove the school bus.
At an early age, he became a member of St. John Baptist Church. At the age of eighteen, Albert and his high school friends moved to Paterson, NJ to find work. Albert met the love of his life, Delores Moore. Through this union, they settled in Hackensack, NJ and attended New Hope Baptist Church. Later, the family relocated to Smyrna, DE, joining the ministry of Crossroads Christian Church. He faithfully served his church by becoming a security officer until his health declined.
His employment with Nabisco Biscuit Company spanned over 39 years, from 1963 until 2002, when he retired. He also worked part-time for the Boys Shelter of Paramus, NJ, where he impacted young men's lives through his mentoring and providing wisdom to troubled teens.
Albert was a past member of the Majestic Lodge #153 Hackensack, NJ. His favorite things to do were crossword puzzles, watching tv westerns, and driving through neighborhoods as their designated neighborhood watchman. He would meet with his Dunkin Donuts breakfast club friends every morning to chit-chat and talk about current events.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kirk Mc Rant; his grandson, Denzel Scipio; his siblings, JoAnne Silver, Alexander, Beverly, and Cleveland Mc Rant.
Albert J. Mc Rant leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and loving wife of 59 years; 4 children, Adrienne Cunningham (Marshall) of Smyrna, DE; Albert Weston (Cilenta) of Charlotte, NC; Sonja and Robin Mc Rant of Smyrna, DE; 6 grandchildren, LaToya, Rah-Juan, Jordan, Albert Jr, Nicholas and Kloei; and 1 great-grandchild, Cairo; 3 siblings, Nehemiah (Josephine) Mc Rant of Columbia, SC; Harold Mc Rant of Rialto, CA; Blanch Mc Fadden of Hopkins, SC; 3 brothers-in-law, Louis, Kenneth (Denella) of Clifton, NJ & Dennis (Marvette) Moore of Smyrna, DE; 4 sisters-in-law, Kathy Mc Rant of Clarendon, AR; and Ella Mc Rant of Hopkins, SC; Gladys Ricks of Paterson, NJ; Paula O'Blenis of Magnolia, DE; and a host of nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
