Alex was born on October 10, 1987, in Neenah. As his mother, I'm at a loss for words as we are all struggling so hard with this tremendous loss. Alex was such a beautiful bright light and kind soul. Everyone who knew him loved him. He was the funniest, most loving son any mom could pray for.
Al was a natural athlete who loved many sports. He excelled in baseball under his father's coaching. He also loved tennis, until his younger sister Nakira could beat him. He loved playing golf when he could get through a round without losing too many balls or bending too many clubs. Most sunny days he could be found on the course with his Uncle Chip or close friend Drew. He was also an amazing artist, guitar player and soulful song writer.
Alex was passionate about so many things, but mostly his love of family and friends, watching British mysteries with his mom, telling hilarious stories, and doing spot on impressions of EVERYONE. He kept us all laughing and would lighten up the moods of everyone he worked with and spent time with. He was dedicated to his parents and selflessly helped take care of his father Tim during his battle with cancer.
Alex graduated from Neenah High School in 2006 and later went on to attend Culinary School at Fox City Technical College. He worked at many places and did many things. For the last four years, he worked at Kwik Trip in Appleton as a cook. He worked with some great people there and valued those friendships very much, as well as those he kept in touch with from previous jobs.
Alex had a special bond with his grandparents on both sides of his family and inherited a loyal and fierce enthusiasm for the Chicago Cubs. Wrigley Field was a very meaningful place for him and his entire family. Through thick and thin, just like his Bumpa and Grampa, he was also devoted to the Badgers and Packers, rarely missing a game.
He had a wanderlust like his mom and among his favorite places were Savannah, GA, The Bahamas, Southern California and anywhere there was sunshine, seafood and a cool breeze. Wherever Alex went, his two nephews, Maverick and D.K. and niece Zari were not far behind. He was the pied piper whenever kids were around. He was a surrogate uncle to Maisy and Zoe, the daughters of his friends Drew and Meghan. He had an especially strong bond with his oldest nephew and "Best Bud" Maverick. They were rarely apart and took turns making us all laugh whenever we were together.
Alex is survived by his Mother, Nicole (Arpin) Rasmussen; his siblings and partners in crime, Clayton, Nakira and Jenna; nephews Maverick (Mack) and D.K. and sweet niece Zarielle (Zari); his aunts and uncles, Joann, John (Becky), Margie, Lisa (Lauren), Matt (Julie), Kendall (Pam), Kurt (Ann), Mark, and Bill (Shelly) as well as many close cousins and friends. I wish I could name them all, but Drew, Kendra, Justin, and Jack were extremely close to him for many years. He was also extremely close to his uncle and mentor Chip who tragically passed away last August.
Alex was preceded in death by his loving and supportive grandparents Ed and Nancy Arpin and Gene and Ina Rasmussen, his Uncle Chip, Aunt Michelle, and his father Timothy who passed two days after Alex, after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
A joint visitation and- Alex and his dad Tim will be held at Westgor Funeral Home in Neenah, 205 W Doty Ave, on Sunday, January 12, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM and from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm there will be an open mic where friends and family can share memories of both Alex & Tim.
