Alfred J. (Al) Schick of Cardinal, Mathews County, passed peacefully on Saturday morning, July 26, 2025. Al, a retired RCA engineer, served in the U.S. Air Force and then graduated from the University of Tennessee through the G.I. Bill program. Al and his wife, Judy (deceased), migrated to River Country in 2000 from Indianapolis; they operated a small business, Tidewater Travel, providing travel assistance to many in our community. He is survived by his brother, Ray; children, Matthew, Heather, Angela, Julie, and AJ; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at Hogg Funeral Home, 3098 George Washington Memorial Highway, Hayes, Virginia 23072. A graveside service officiated by the Reverend Johnny Mintah Mensah will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Windsor Gardens Cemetery & Mausoleum, 80 Soles Lane, Dutton, Virginia 23050services under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home.
