Alfred C. Smithers

Alfred C. Smithers, age 71 of Elkland, PA passed away on December 31, 2022 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. Born on March 12, 1951, he was a son to the late James and Maryjane (Earnest) Smithers. Alfred was a 1969 Addison High School graduate. He worked at Dresser Rand for a handful of years and then he worked at Ward Manufacturing for about 10 years. When Alfred was younger, he enjoyed working on racecars at his parent's garage and racing stock-cars at the Woodhull Raceway. He adored spending time with his granddaughter Emmalyn and he liked spending time at his friend's house. Alfred was said to have had a heart of gold, he would go out of his way to help anyone who needed it before he helped himself. Alfred is survived by his son, James Smithers of Elkland; granddaughter, Emmalyn Tombs; special friend, Mert; and John Canfield, who was like a son. He was preceded in death by both his parents; brothers, Dennis and Norman "Sonny" Smithers; and sister, Rebecca O'Brien. At this time, no services are to be held.
