Beloved Father, Brother and Community Leader
Thomas R. Hallett (Tom), age 83 of Bath, New York, formally of Addison, passed away peacefully Friday July 18, 2025, at his home leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ellen in 2023.
Tom was born on December 18, 1941, to his father Robert, and his mother Beverly (Phillips) Hallett. He was a graduate of Addison Central High School. Tom married Ellen Ferguson on September 21, 1963.
Tom is survived by his children: Kristina L. Hallett of Addison, NY, Todd T. Hallett (Yvonne) of Coral Springs, Florida and William L. Hallett of Kalispell, Montana. He also leaves behind his brother Richard Hallett (Dale) of Bath, NY, and his sister Candace Rayburn (James) of Connecticut. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were fortunate to know him.
Born and raised on a farm, Tom developed a deep appreciation for nature and animals that stayed with him throughout his life. His early experiences instilled in him a strong work ethic and a profound respect for the landvalues that guided his personal and professional journey.
Tom dedicated 30 years of service to the New York Department of Transportation, where his commitment and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and community members alike. Following his retirement, he pursued his passion by founding a successful land surveying business, inspired in part by his admiration for George Washington, a fellow surveyor and his favorite historical figure.
Tom was deeply involved in his community, especially during the years his children were growing up. He volunteered as a coach for the Addison Little League, Senior League, Small Fry Basketball League, and served as President of the Addison Cinderella Softball League. His leadership and encouragement touched the lives of countless young athletes and their families.
A proud member of the Addison chapter of the Masonic Lodge, Tom remained active in the organization until his passing, embodying its principles of brotherhood, charity, and truth.
As per his request, there will be no public services. A private graveside service will be held in Addison Rural Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Flint Funeral Home, 10 Wall St., Addison, NY.
