Obituary published on Legacy.com by Flint Funeral Home - Addison on Oct. 25, 2025.
Franklin Curtis Hall, age 80 of Lindley, New York passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 11,
2023, at home.
He was born on September 29, 1943 in Corning, New York to Franklin and Carolyn (Kemp) Hall. Frank
was a graduate of Addison High School and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961-67,
serving in Vietnam. He married Sandra Smith on March 19, 1966, at the Tuscarora Baptist Church.
Frank found his calling working for the railroad. He worked for Penn Central and Conrail from 1968 until
his retirement in 1994, working as a fireman and engineer. In his spare time, Frank could be found
working in his garage, driving a tractor, mowing his lawn, or working on equipment. Frank was a master
mechanic and could tear an engine apart and put it back together with ease. He enjoyed building stock
cars with Kenny Doud and racing at Woodhull Raceway. He was the proud owner of a Roush Racing
Mustang and Lightning truck, which he loved driving around. Following those racing tendencies, he was
a life-long NASCAR fan who recently had the opportunity to drive at Watkins Glen International Raceway
in the summer of 2022, where he undoubtedly exceeded the recommended speed while leading the
pack around the track (and terrifying his daughter Kristin in that moment).
Frank was always the Marine -- strong and stoic -- never hesitating to tell someone to get a job and get
a haircut in jest, but, deep down, was a softie. He deeply loved his wife, children, family, friends, and
his pets (Winston, Alberti, Red Cat and Penelope) and never hesitated to help someone in need. Frank
will be greatly missed as the heart of the family and for the love and support he gave.
Frank is survived by his wife Sandy Hall; three children: Bruce (Kristen (K2)) Hall of Vestal, NY, Brian
(Kristyn (K3)) Hall of Big Flats, Kristin (K1) (John) Button of Beaver Dams; grandson: Brandon Hall of
Albany; siblings: Marjory Miles of Tuscarora, Edwin (Irene) Hall of Tuscarora, James ( Shirley) Hall of
Campbell, Millie (Kenny) Peoples of Addison, Martha (Bill) Stratton of Addison, Benjamin (Wendy) Hall of
Hornby, Joel (Kimberly) Hall of Corning and Fred (Sue) Marsh of Painted Post; brother in law: Doug
(Pam) Smith of Lindley; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Franklin was
predeceased by his sister-in-law, Ann Smith.
