Alice L. Beems was born on August 12, 1936, in Grantville, KS. She departed this world on June 6, 2024. She was a proud mother, a talented artist, and a compassionate soul who dedicated her life to helping others as a case manager and social worker while working at Menninger's and the Family Service Guidance Center.
She married Richard C. Beems on May 27,1955, and later divorced. Alice is survived by her three daughters, Kendra Munroe (Bruce), Lafayette, LA, Kelly Westbrook (Skip), Palm Harbor, FL, and Kristen Lawrence (Jerry), Grantville, KS. Her spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she was also a cherished grandmother to four grandchildren and a great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren.
She lovingly crafted clothing with her skilled hands for her daughters. Her talents extended beyond the ordinary, as she also dedicated time and care to create enchanting doll clothes for her daughters by stitching together tiny garments that mirrored affection for her family.
Alice's passion for the arts was evident in her remarkable talent as an artist and seamstress. Her creations were not just expressions of creativity but reflections of the love and care she poured into everything she did. Her hands crafted beauty, and her heart infused warmth into every piece. Nature's beauty captivated Alice, and she found solace in the delicate petals of roses and irises that could be found in her artwork.
A voracious reader, Alice could often be found immersed in the pages of a book, exploring worlds both real and imagined. As an avid reader, Alice's curiosity knew no bounds. She instilled in her family a love for knowledge and the power of imagination, creating a legacy that continues to unfold in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Puzzles were a favorite pastime for Alice, and she reveled in the challenge of unraveling complexities. This love for problem-solving translated seamlessly into her career as a case manager and social worker, where she dedicated herself to improving the lives of others.
As we remember Alice, let us celebrate the legacy she leaves behind, a legacy of love, creativity, compassion, and dedication. She touched the lives of those around her with kindness and grace, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life service for Alice will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, June 21st at the Grantville United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grantville United Methodist Church sent via the Parker Price & Davidson Funeral Home.
