Ginna Farris was born August 27, 1941 in Chicago IL to Samuel Miller Stone and Alice Monimia Fairfax Stone. She peacefully drew her last breath June 9th, 2024 in Frisco, TX.
In her early years, she moved with her family to Paris, Texas where her mother's family had settled many years before. She and her sister Shelby Miller were the last generation to live in the Sam Bell Maxey House State Historic Site in Paris. She graduated from Paris High School and attended one year at Hollins College in Virginia before attending Southern Methodist University. At SMU she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She married James "Jim" Walter Farris in 1963 and the couple had two children; David Grant Farris and James Shelby "Sheb" Farris.
Ginna was an artist but set that profession aside to raise her two children. She was active in the communities where she lived being a member of the King's Daughters, PEO, Daughters of the American Revolution, The Paris Education Foundation and Central Presbyterian Church in Paris. Later she moved to The Woodlands, TX to be close to her oldest son, David, and his family. There she remained active in the local Presbyterian Church and attended numerous mission trips to Africa.
She then moved to Frisco, TX to be close to her youngest son Sheb and his family. There she continued her service to the local community by becoming a Charter Member of the IY Chapter of PEO in Frisco. She was very active in Bible studies at Grace Avenue United Methodist Church and channeled her artistic talents making cards with Stampin Up.
Ginna loved all people, nature, animals and especially dogs. Ginna shared her mother's joy of traveling and took many trips abroad. She also had a great love of the Beach and spent much time at South Padre Island which inspired numerous paintings of hers. It was there she felt most relaxed and closest to God.
Ginna is survived by her sons; David Farris and his wife Suzanne, and Sheb Farris and his wife Camille; grandchildren; Kiersten Ayers and her husband Brynn, Emma Daniel and her husband Andrew, Harrison Barnes, Kayleigh Barnes, Lilyan Farris, Shelby Farris, Libby Eischen and her husband Connor, and Merrick Farris; sister, Shelby Miller and her husband John, and brother-in-law Ken Farris and his wife Marcia.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 13 at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Cemetery in Paris. A memorial service will be held Saturdy, June 15th at Grace Avenue United Methodist Church (3521 Main, St., Frisco, TX 75034) at 11:00 AM.
