Alice I. Ferguson

Alice Irene Ferguson, age 93, of New Boston, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, May 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 18, 1931, in Vinton County-Brown Township, Ohio, she was the daughter of James and Mary (Carder) Andy. She married Paris Edward Ferguson on July 2,1949 in McArthur, Ohio.
Alice dedicated 30 years of her life as a bus driver for the New Boston Huron School District, retiring in 1995. Her commitment to education continued as a member of the Huron Board of Education from 1996 to 2017. In 2020, Huron School District broke ground on the Alice I. Ferguson Early Childhood Center in her honor. She always had a heart for children. Her quote "Completely Committed to Kids" was adopted by Huron School District and became part of their mission statement.
A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Flat Rock since 1964, Alice served in many roles, including pianist, singer, soloist, and Sunday School teacher. She was also actively involved in the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 156, the Downriver Christian Women's Fellowship Advisory Board, and was a dedicated volunteer at the Huron Applefest. She led summer recreation programs for three years in the 1960's, served as a Girl Scout leader, and worked with Brownie scouts to Seniors scouts. She also sponsored 3 foreign exchange students in the 80's and 90's.
Alice was passionate about music and enjoyed singing, playing the piano, guitar, and mandolin. Her musical talents graced many weddings, church services, and nursing home gatherings. She was also known as the "singing bus driver".
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paris Edward Ferguson; her parents, James and Mary Andy; and ten siblings. She was the last surviving sibling of the Andy Family.
Alice is survived by her children: Russell (Linda) Ferguson and Deborah (Donald) McCabe; grandchildren: Patrick Ferguson, Scott (Jennifer) Ferguson, Heather (Mike) Esquibel, Amanda (Mike) McCullough, Christy (Bob) Beach, and Wesley McCabe; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock Chapel.
Instate visitation will take place at First Baptist Church of Flat Rock, 24180 Gibraltar Road, Flat Rock, MI 48134 on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Robert Boyce officiating.
Burial will follow at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Huron Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Flat Rock 24180 Gibraltar Rd., Flat Rock, MI 48134
