Alice's home economist friends couldn't believe that this allergy prone young lady was going to survive dusty Southwest, Kansas but survive she did, all while helping others make the most of living in the area that she loved. During her time in Grant County, she impacted many lives and made many lifetime friendships. Alice dedicated 40 years of her career to the Cooperative Extension Service, serving as a Home Economist in Bourbon, Clay, and Grant counties before retiring in Grant County in 1995. As soon as Alice retired, she spent her retirement planning extensive trips and traveling all over the world. She will be remembered by the many international trinkets she brought back for many in the community.
Throughout her life, Alice was deeply involved in her faith and community. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Organization, the Kansas Association of Family and Community Education, Women of Purpose, and Business and Professional Women.
