The Funeral Service for Allean Pitts Welcher, age 92 of Coleta Valley, will be held at the Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Clifton McWhorter officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Welcher passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025 at the Lineville Health and Rehab. A lifelong resident of Clay County, she was a graduate of Bibb Graves High School. She was a homemaker, and dearly loved her neighbors and the community of Coleta Valley. There were not many days that you couldn't find Mrs. Welcher in her kitchen cooking a meal, frying her famous apple pies, or preserving fresh food from her garden for the seasons to come. No matter the time of day, Mrs. Welcher always had a chair at her table open for anyone in need and would make sure that bellies were as full as the heart when guest left.
She is survived by one sister, Ruby Moore of Wetumpka, Alabama and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Janie Pitts, her husband, Jack Welcher; four sisters: Myrtis Pepper, Dot Carr, Irma Wesley and Annette Few; one brother: Rubin Pitts.
Pallbearers will be: Steve Moore, Alan Moore, Phillip Moore, Gary Few, Colin Wesley, and Jason Walker.
Her visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland beginning at 9:30 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.
