Allen Lawrence Giles entered this life on March 22, 1945, to the proud parents L. C. Giles and Reba Price, both of Forney, Texas. He departed this life on June 15, 2025.
At an early age, he was baptized and accepted Christ at Greater El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where he participated in the choir. He originally attended Julia C. Frazier Elementary School, and shortly after moving to the area of Oak Cliff in Dallas, TX, he attended N. W. Harllee Elementary School, later completing his education at James Madison High School with further trade education thereafter.
After the death of his father at an early age in 1947, he was later raised by his stepfather through marriage, Rufus James Bennett.
He married Iree Burns, and to this union, a son was born, Kevin Giles. He later remarried to Bobbie Miller, and to this union, a daughter was born, Cametra LaGail Giles, including being a devoted stepfather to Devonna Roberson. Afterwards, he met Eliane 'Sway' Smith, and to this union, a daughter was born, Keisha Yvette Smith. He thereafter married Eunice Holman (including a loving stepdaughter, Nikki Johnson) and later in life, married Gloria Jean Crosby.
His occupational career consisted of being a Forklift Operator at Alton Box Company for roughly 30 years and for American Eagle after a vested number of years in Ground Operations.
He would later enjoy his retirement in Forney, TX, with his wife Gloria Jean, also a place he loved since his early childhood summers spent with his grandmother, Minnie Giles Roach. He became a loyal and faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, serving in the choir, as a Deacon, and as a Trustee of the church.
His joys included the pride shared in talking about his children, traveling (including cruises), hitting the roadway to casinos, a seemingly lifetime of golfing, and any time shared with his family members. His love for sports was well-known, and you could find him in front of a TV watching golf, basketball, and football (a loyal fan of The Dallas Cowboys).
Preceding him in death were his wife, Gloria Jean Crosby; parents, L. C. Giles, Rufus, and Reba Bennett; brothers, Madison Crosby, Carroll Giles, and Leonard Giles; a sister, Brenda Strickland; and his paternal grandmother, Minnie Giles Roach.
Allen leaves to cherish his memory a son, Kevin Giles (Winston); daughters, Cametra L. Collier and Keisha Y. Gipson (Quentin, Sr.); a sister, Audrey G. Fletcher; a brother, Larry W. Bennett; and five grandchildren: Laela Collier, Kamerin Jones, Raina Collier, Raya Collier, and Quentin Gipson II. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives and friends, including two special friends, LaSalle Anders and James Holmon.
