Mother Allie Gee Highsmith began her earthly journey on May 11, 1932. She was born in Martin County, NC to the late James Grimes and the late Rittie Moore. At 12:34 am on Friday, February 28, 2025, our world was forever changed when God sent his heavenly angels to escort his beautiful earth angel to come and join his heavenly choir.
From humble beginnings, working as a housekeeper, Mother Allie Gee worked at Carolina Leaf. After leaving Carolina Leaf, she worked as a teacher's assistant at Bethel Union High School. She also worked as a manager at the first Super Dollar store in Bethel, NC for many years. She tested her entrepreneurial skills as part owner and operator of a clothing boutique store in Bethel, NC. Many will remember her as the café manager and front register operator at Bethel Pharmacy where she worked for thirty plus years. She always greeted everyone with a smile and a hello.
Mother Highsmith accepted Christ at an early age and was a longtime and devoted member of Bethel Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church where she served as a church mother, a member of the senior choir, Sunday School teacher and president of the Pastor's Aide committee. She served faithfully in the Northeast Original Free Will Baptist Churches of America Conference as the mother of the conference, past vice president of the conference registration committee, a member of the conference choir, a member of the conference scholarship committee and as well as other roles in the Conference Union Meeting. Mother Highsmith worked wherever the Lord sent her, and she did it with grace, honor and humility.
Mother Allie Gee was a trailblazer ahead of her time. She was devoted to making the world a better place for all who crossed her path. She was a strong, faithful warrior who would not accept no for an answer when it came to helping others. She was a spiritual woman who demonstrated the love of Christ through sharing and showing loving kindness. Along with God, she was our comforter in the midnight hour, our song in despair, our light and glimpse of hope when darkness fell.
Mother Allie Gee also had a deep love for travel. She journeyed from the east coast to the west coast of the United States and explored many parts of the world with countless of friends and family. Her adventures took her to various countries, where she embraced new cultures and experiences, always returning with stories that would captivate and inspire those around her.
Mother Allie Gee Highsmith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roosevelt Highsmith, her five brothers and seven sisters.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her three sons, Alton Ray Highsmith (Aura), Jersey City, NJ, Charles Highsmith, Bethel, NC, and Michael Highsmith (Roslyn), Orlando, FL.; four daughters, Rosa Jackson (Charles), Norfolk, VA, Barbara Highsmith of the home, Audrey Moore, Bethel, NC, Lillian Diane Howard (Lindsey), Greensboro, NC; eighteen grandchildren: LaShawn Jackson, Darryl Highsmith, David Howard, Oneika Jackson, Kenya Howard, Leon Howard, Iyeshia Moore, Charlea Moore, Brice Howard, Austin Howard, Nolan Howard, Maurice Howard, Lorena Coburn, Valerie Heath, Antwan Highsmith, Antavious Highsmith, Michael J.
