Americo "Amel" Tedeschi

Tedeschi, Americo "Amel" age 97 of Newton, NJ passed away Thursday October 16, 2025 following a long illness. Born and raised in Paterson, NJ, Americo had resided in Wayne and Kinnelon for many years before retiring to Newton.

Son of the late Domenico and Columba (nee Salerno) Tedeschi, Americo had proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a hardworking and true entrepreneur, operating a construction company, a furniture business as well as a real estate holding company for many years before his retirement. Among his many talents was his love of music and playing the guitar. Americo was a member of a band for many years in his younger years.

Mr. Tedeschi was a skilled private pilot and a devoted husband and father. Always active in his family's lives, he served as a PAL Baseball coach for many years. A devout Catholic, Americo was a member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter 943 Butler, NJ.

Americo was predeceased by his beloved wife Marie (nee Cormier) Tedeschi in 2009. Survivors include his son Michael D. and his wife Laura, his daughter Charlene M. and her husband Andrew Midkiff as well as his grandchildren Jennifer and Matthew Tedeschi and Jason and Nicole Midkiff.

Visitation will held Tuesday October 21 from 930 to 1030 AM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home 156 Main Street (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. Graveside Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 12 Noon in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery 106 Bartholdi Ave. Butler, NJ 07405.
