Andrea Beth (Black) Freeland, 51, of Highlands Ranch, CO, formerly of Mt. Vernon passed away August 19, 2025 in Denver. She was born July 30, 1974 to Robert "Bob" and Janis (Brady) Black.

Andrea was baptized into the Christian faith. She graduated with honors from Mt. Vernon High School in 1992, where she excelled academically and was selected for the National Honor Society. During her school years, she tutored fellow students and also taught at Debbie's School of Dance in Mt. Vernon.

She continued her education at Indiana State University, completing her degree in just three and a half years with honors. Andrea went on to earn her RN and later her Master's degree from Colorado Christian College. Alongside her work in the hospital, she shared her knowledge through nursing education, teaching at several institutions including Colorado Christian College, Arizona College of Nursing (Denver), Arapahoe Community College, and most recently, Grand Canyon University North.

Andrea and her husband, Randy, loved traveling the world together. She was deeply loved and touched the lives of people across many generations.

She was preceded in death by her father; brother, Robert "Bobby" Deron Black; and nephew, Ethan Josiah Black.

Andrea is survived by her husband, Scott Randall "Randy" Freeland; mother, Janis; niece, Marriah Elizabeths; great-nephew, Archer Scott Foley; uncles, Randall Brady (Jan) and Keith A. Brady (Jennifer); and many cousins.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 1, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church, 120 E. 6th St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Rev. Randy Brady officiating and the Southern Indiana Nursing Honor Guard providing services.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am service time on Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to NEWLIFE Rescue & Adoption, 6500 Leonard Rd. N., Mt. Vernon, IN or to the First Presbyterian Church.
