Andrea Nutter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maurice L. Knee, Ltd. Funeral Home - Plum on Feb. 18, 2026.
Andrea Dee Nutter, 64, passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of February 18th, 2026 after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born March 20, 1961 in Harrisburg, PA to William "Bill" and Joyce (Enders) Schwartz. The family relocated to Plum when Andrea was four years old, and she remained a lifelong Plum resident.

A 1979 Plum High School graduate, Andrea attended CCAC where she studied nursing and played on the softball team. Upon graduating she achieved her Registered Nursing license. She later went on to earn her BSN at the University of Pittsburgh. Andrea spent her entire nursing career at Shadyside Hospital and was dedicated to her patients. It brought her joy to spend meaningful time with them and their loved ones. Andrea also spent many years in a mentoring role as a preceptor, training nursing students.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother Jeffrey Schwartz, who Andrea spoke to daily as he was a constant presence before his passing. She is survived by her beloved son, Jeff Nutter, dearest daughter-in-law Jewel, and her precious grandchildren, Natalie and Joshua, who all cared for her until her last breath. She is also survived by her nieces, Hannah (Andy), Gretchen (Jake) and her darling great niece and nephews, Maeve, August and William. Andrea also leaves behind her lifelong best friend Becky (Teet) Keefer and her children Megan (Zach) and TJ (Alix), who Andrea thought of as her own family. She also leaves behind many loving cousins, extended family and good friends.

Andrea's greatest joy in life was being a mom to her son Jeff. As a devoted single mother, she proudly embraced both roles of mom and dad, providing unwavering love, strength and guidance every step of the way. She coached Jeff in T-ball when he was young and remained his biggest cheerleader throughout his life, even into adulthood as she faithfully supported him on the rec softball field. When Jeff and Jewel made her a "mimi" to Natalie and then Joshua, her heart expanded in ways only a grandmother's can. Her grandchildren were truly the loves of her life. She spent countless hours nurturing and caring for them and always enjoyed getting into a competitive game of some kind with them! She was a constant, present and steadfast force in their lives, loving them deeply and cherishing every moment spent together. She always showed up for her family without hesitation. She loved them with every ounce of her being and they were her whole world.

When she was not with her family, Andrea was the ultimate competitor and loved participating in sports. She was involved in a bowling league for decades and in recent years developed a passion for pickleball thanks to her brother Jeff introducing her to the sport. She was an avid gardener who took great pride in her ability to grow anything and to bring a dying plant back to life. Andrea was a larger-than-life presence who loved deeply and was a natural caretaker to anyone in need. Her absence will be felt deeply, and she will be missed dearly by anyone who loved her.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday at Maurice L. Knee, Ltd. Funeral Home, 7663 Saltsburg Rd., Plum, PA 15239 where a funeral service will be held on Sunday at 11 a.m.
