Andrew was called home on August 19 to be with his Lord and Savior, after a long battle with dementia.
Andrew Benoit was born in Cameron to Sidney and Anastazie Benoit on January 26, 1951.
Andrew had a big heart and loved to help anyone in need. He was known as a "Gentle Giant" by one of his caregivers. Andrew loved to spend time with family and friends. He also loved animals and playing the guitar.
Andrew is survived by his brothers Floyd (Carolyn) Benoit of Grand Lake and Donald (Michelle) Benoit of Lake Arthur, his brother-in-laws Richard McClelland and Norman (Barbara) Elliott and sister-in-law Barbara (David) Wehling and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 40 years, Joan Elliott Benoit of Warren, TX, sister Glenda McClelland and nephew Matthew McClelland and great nephews Nathaniel Soileau and Bryan McClelland, a great neice Hartley Benoit, his parents and in-laws Doris and Gleance Elliott and brother-in-law Clinton Elliott.
Services for Andrew will be held at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Iowa, LA on Friday, August 29. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:30, followed by a rosary at 3:30 and mass at 4:00.
We would like to thank the staff of Camelot Brookside Nursing Home for loving and caring for Andrew during his last months.
Cremation has been entrusted to Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.
