It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Harvey Dell Marshall, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who departed this life on August 11, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on September 27, 1941, in Jennings, Louisiana, Harvey dedicated his life to the land as a devoted farmer. He took great pride in his work, cherishing every moment spent cultivating the earth and nurturing his crops.
Harvey was known for his warm smile and friendly disposition, often found enjoying coffee and sharing stories with friends at Butchies. His passion for gardening and mowing grass reflected his deep connection to nature. Sunday dinners with his family were a cherished tradition, where laughter and love filled the air.
A long-time supporter of FFA youth and 4-H, Harvey believed in nurturing the next generation. He enjoyed his time spent with horses, football-where his loyalty to LSU and the New Orleans Saints shone bright-showing cattle and goats, rodeos, and watching classic westerns. Many will remember him riding the field roads alongside his dear friend, Ricky Crochet, enjoying the simple joys of life.
Harvey is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Marshall, and their children: Stacy (Brandon) Derks, Chad (Dana) Marshall, Chris (Alicia) Marshall, Tina (Greg) Jenkins, and Dalene Davis. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Carolyn Marshall; grandchildren, Kason, Kylie, Zach, Lainey, Kaden, Kenzie, Blake, Michael, Jessica, Justin and Jalyn; thirteen great grandchildren; and countless friends who will miss his warmth and kindness.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Miguez Funeral Home on August 14, 2025,from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A Rosary service will commence at 6:30 PM, leading into the funeral service at 7:00 PM, led by Deacon Mike Tramel. Following the visitation ending at 9:00 PM, the family has chosen to honor his wishes of cremation.
Cremation will be under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Harvey Dell Marshall, we honor his legacy-a man who touched the hearts of many and whose spirit will forever be entwined with the land he loved. He will be missed deeply but remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Marshall and Jennie Marshall; brother, Donald Marshall; sister, Lindy King; and son in law, Steve Davis.
