Born in Paterson, Andy spent the majority of his youth in Hawthorne, New Jersey until purchasing a home and moving to Montville, New Jersey 50 years ago. Andy served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and upon his return opened his own auto mechanic shop known as Westview Friendly Service in Rochelle Park. Andy was a car enthusiast, who had an affinity for classic cars and was very handy when it came to fixing, repairing, building and pretty much doing anything with his hands.
Andy was a friend to many, and the beloved husband of Sharon (Gorman) Buis. Loving father of Lisa Decato and her longtime Partner Joseph Kopko of Elmwood Park, Heather Decato of Vernon, Magie Trinidad and her husband Mike of Bethlehem, PA, Grandfather of Julie Warner, Brother of Kenneth Buis and his wife Janine, and Uncle of Meagan Kay and Kenneth Buis, Jr.
Cremation will take place privately. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne at 3:30pm. Friends may visit prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00pm – 3:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Valor Clinic (www.valorclinic.org).
