Andrew J. Gerity, Sr, 63, of Salisbury, Maryland passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15th, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born November 6, 1960, in Perth Amboy, NJ. Andrew was a resident for many years in Woodbridge Township, NJ before moving to Salisbury with his wife, Barbara, and two sons, Andrew Gerity, Jr. and Jonathan Gerity, Sr. Andrew was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. Andrew decided after September 11th, 2001, that he wanted to do more for his community, and so he decided to volunteer at the American Red Cross with his family. Family was everything to Andrew. He spent every hour he could with his sons and grandsons. Andrew coached youth football for the Salvation Army Black Knights. All the players knew Andrew as "Coach Andy". Andrew loved to help wherever he could and would give the shirt off his own back or the last dime he had to whoever needed it. Andrew was proud to have worked as Captain of the Court House for The Wicomico County District Court. Andrew also worked at the Salisbury Mall as security. Andrew always enjoying the security field. He decided to open and work in private security for private home patrol as Chief Operating Officer. Andrew's life touched so many friends who will remember him as a loving, and caring man who made them laugh and smile. Andrew was a very religious man whose faith was Roman Catholic. He was also an ordained minister. Andrew was also a big animal lover and even did animal rescue on the side helping any animal in need.
Andrew was the beloved son of the late William Henry Gerity, III. and Catherine Gerity.
He is survived by ex-wife, Barbara Kunie, and their two children, Andrew J. Gerity, Jr, Jonathan Gerity, Sr. and two grandsons, Jonathan Gerity, Jr., (Jonny) who is enrolled in Virginia Military Institute, and Noah Gerity a junior in high school, all of Salisbury, Maryland. He is survived by his siblings, Catherine Crowe, William Gerity IV, David Gerity, Patrick Gerity (MaryAnn), Theresa, Joseph, and Marie Gerity, Tegan Moss and James Gerity. Also surviving are his beloved nieces and nephews,great Nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and one aunt, Lucille McCann.
Andrew was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Gerity, and brother, Michael Gerity, and his nephew, William Henry Gerity V.
A celebration of life will be held on September 7,2024, at 4:00pm at his home in Parsonsburg. Military honors will start at 5:30pm. Contact Andrew Gerity, Jr. or Jonathan Gerity, Sr. for more information on address.
