Andy Self

In loving memory of Andrew (Andy) Edgar Self, a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on December 4, 2023, after a courageous battle with declining health. Born on November 25, 1966, in Muncie, Indiana, Andy graduated from Yorktown High School in 1985 and pursued his passion for health, earning a degree in Exercise Science and Physiology from Ball State University.
With a career spanning 32 years, Andy dedicated his professional life to the well-being of others. In 1991 he joined Indiana Heart Physicians. He worked to establish the Cardiac Testing department and managed the Medical Assistant and Electrophysiology departments as an Associate Clinical Director. In 2014 he transitioned to Franciscan Health as Manager of the Cardiovascular Testing Service Line for the Central Indiana Region. In those 32 years he exemplified dedication and commitment. A man of unwavering faith, described by friends as a 'selfless, servant-leader', Andy's legacy extends beyond the workplace, touching the hearts of colleagues and friends alike.
Andy's passion for fishing, hunting, cycling, and the great outdoors brought him much joy and peace. Known for his great sense of humor, he could effortlessly bring laughter to those around him. His two sons, Nicholas (Nick) Andrew Self and Kyle Edgar Self, were the lights of his life and he cherished every moment with them.
Survived by his two sons, Nick (fiancé Abby) and Kyle; two sisters, Cathy Curtis (husband, Jason) and Heidi Vifquain (husband, Scott); and nieces and nephews – Sam, Audrey, Anna, Jonas, and Ella. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar (Ed) Earl Self II and Sharon Jean (Swanson) Self. Andy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.
A supportive father, brother, a playful uncle, and a true friend, he enriched the lives of those around him with his warmth and kindness. His spirit of adventure, dedication, and positivity continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Celebration of Andy's life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 3:00pm at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, Muncie. Friends may gather from 1:00pm until service time at 3:00pm.
