Anita Faye (Kielhorn) Collins, was born on January 10, 1938, in Harrisburg, Illinois. She went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. For over two decades, Anita created a sanctuary of warmth and joy at her home where her family eagerly gathered for games and the delightful aromas of her cooking in the air.
Her kind-hearted nature and strong faith in God illuminated the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. As a devoted member of Edwardsville United Methodist Church, Anita exemplified the very essence of compassion and community, inspiring others through her steadfast commitment to her beliefs.
Anita's hobbies brought her such joy; whether it was fishing, engaging in spirited games of cards and Scrabble, or enjoying the thrill of the casino, she approached life with enthusiasm. She had a special fondness for her favorite band, Smith & Company, and relished her visits to the Derby Dinner Playhouse, always thrilled by the artistry and camaraderie she shared with those around her.
She is survived by a loving family that includes her children, Katie (Keith) Thompson, Bill (Anita) Best, Jim (Debbie) Best, Brenda Snyder, Janice Murphy, Nancy (Mike) Schellenberger, and Derek (Stacy) Collins. Anita’s legacy continues through her 21 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her nurturing spirit. Her connections with her sisters, Nancy Phelps and Rosalind (Bill) Moore, were a source of strength and joy throughout her life. Also left in heartfelt remembrance is her special friend, Ed Cecil.
